A Paradigm Shift

I've softened a bit on the Christian music industry. I used to think that Christians are all too willing to comprise talent for something "Christian". I still think this is the case for a lot of it, but as I grow in faith I think that I am developing a different view of music. I've always felt closest to God when playing violin or singing in church, but now I've gotten to the point where I buy Christian music from iTunes occasionally. When I listen to a worship song, it reminds me of who I am in Christ and helps me to stay firm. Here are my favorites:

You Never Let Go by Matt Redman

This song I was introduced to in freshmen year during one of our Wednesday night Youth Groups. I love it. It is the first (explicitly) Christian song that I'd actually played on my iPod more than three times.

His Glory Appears by Hillsong (Brooke Fraser)

The new worship director at our church is very good. He has helped me discover some great songs, this being one of them. I listen to this one every day on my walk to school a couple of times. Brooke Fraser's voice is just brilliant. She's from New Zealand. This is probably my current favorite.

The Glory of it All by David Crowder Band

I saw the David Crowder Band at CHIC and to prepare, I bought the CD "Remedy". This is the first song on it. This was very helpful during Youth Nexus.

Shine Your Light on Us by Robbie Seay Band

Another one from the new worship director.

Moving Forward by Israel Houghton

The YouTube video has two songs, I'm talking about the first.
At CHIC, when Israel performed this song, he just looped the last part of it:

"You make all things new
Yes you make all things new
and I will follow you forward"

Powerful.
